Beeuwen has a degree in Mechanical engineering, and a Masters Degree in Engineering Management, both from UP. He also completed the SANDF’s Executive National Security Program in 2003.<br /> During his CSIR career he was the leader of the CSIR aerospace initiative and the assistant national contact (ANCP) for Aeronautics within the EU Framework 7 research programme. He joined DST formally in 2012 as Chief Director: Technology Localisation, Beneficiation & Advanced Manufacturing and is also championing the strategic objective ‘R&D led industry development’.
Synopsis of topic: Science, Technology and Innovation are crucial facilitators to economic and industrial growth, exponentially more so in the context of the Fourth Industrial Revolution (FIR). This presentation will cover national technology investments, serving as enabling technologies for FIR, and the way in which government is assisting the manufacturing industry to prepare for- and improve its readiness to embrace the Fourth Industrial Revolution and participate in its related technologies.
